New Lamb

Our second batch of ewes have decided that it is time!
Got to see half of this birth this morning...kind of cool!
"Tippy" had a beautiful baby boy!

Wouldn't ya know she gave birth while a storm was just working it's way towards us all!
Poor gals had to stand out in the storm while momma was tending to her babe in the hut!

Off I go to tend to my other projects on this wet day! Thank God for the rain!!

Farm Chaos, Etc.

Today the guys are up working on the sawmill cutting a cedar board order. It seems we make plans for the day and the man upstairs has other ideas! So our day turns into chaos because we have to figure out His plan not ours. LOL! Chasing our tails...LOL! I think He sits up there and just belly laughs at us! I know I do!
So, while they're doing that, I will water the garden as the rain did come through as promised by the weather man. It went South of here!
I will try to get some paperwork sorted out on our properties we own and are acquiring. Being organized is a real pain in my hiney sometimes. Or is it being responsible.....Ha Ha! Sometimes I wish I could leave things to the wind so somebody else could take care of the responsible stuff while I sit back and watch! No, not really....I would still be in the middle of it....Ha Ha!
Talked to a family relative that I hadn't talked to in years. Going to plan to see them in Iowa this summer. Should be fun!
The sheep, 3 ewes, are STILL holding onto their babies! I am beginning to wonder if they will ever come. Next breeding season is going to be a controlled time. I do not like this guess work! Driving me batty! Ha Ha

The lambs that are here, they are doing great! A couple of the girls are giving it all to their babies. Some are still shedding off their hair...the others are doing great! Such good mommas!

Well back to the chaos we call our farm! Trying to find Serenity this afternoon for sure....been a bit overwhelming. Best laid plans will fall for another day! Chow!

Garden Time

It's Garden Time! Do, Do, Do, Do, Do
Today we got the rest of the garden planted despite the weather. It has tried to rain all day today only managing to drizzle a little bit.
So here are the details....Rhubarb down the middle...upper left corner is asparagus...upper right corner is my berries (raspberries, blackberries and grapes).......middle below rhubarb is pumpkin.
on right.. potatoes (which are coming up beautifully in our experimental hay mulch), tomatoes (in short rows towards the middle off the potato rows), peppers (short row on bottom of potatoes), watermelon, cantalope, green melon, acorn squash, spaghetti squash, corn and peas in the bottom.
on left is tomatoes, lettuce, green beans and cukes, yellow squash, zukes. More berries planted this year along the fence line on both sides on the bottom end.

Holy Vegies! We are going to be busy bees when these start coming on.....

Thought I would share some of the pretties we have this year....

Raspberry patch....lots of berries on it already! Can't wait for them to ripen.

They come up naturally. I did not plant these here!

My grapes have gone wild! Lots of small clusters starting...

Thornless blackberries. Going to be full again this year!

Now Available

My book is now available on Amazon and Barnes&Noble

Wahoo!!

As a young girl, I always dreamed of a fairy tale life. One day my prince would ride up on a white horse and carry me off to his castle with a white picket fence. But reality was quite the opposite. From the time I was a small child, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse were running rampant in my life.
I was raised in a strict religious and family environment. Many people manipulated me for their own gain. I was a pawn of an arranged marriage that produced two beautiful children of which I was determined to raise in love. Offering them a life I was unable to enjoy.
A bitter divorce brought about a whole new life that I had never experienced. Rejected, homeless with no family, I had to find my own way in a world from which I had been protected. Struggling to figure out this new way of life brought its challenges and many mistakes.
But nothing prepared me for the heartache of all heartaches that I was to experience at the tender age of twenty-six!
Be prepared to cry, shake your head and rejoice, while reading my book. God helped me write this to bring hope to one’s heart!

Sunday Passage

Ever have one of those weeks where everything breaks or nothing seems to come together? Yeppers, this last week was one of those for us. Lawnmower belt keeps throwing itself off track, the tankless water heater thermal coupler went out(have to order so cold showers for now), rained off and on all week and hubby was told he cannot be hired back to a job he worked previously because they changed their insurance perimeters in the last 9 mos. Wha, What??
Needed this scripture this morning...

Philippians 4:6 New International Version (NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Thank you, Lord for reminding us silly folks! ;)

Brought these roses home from my aunts home in Tennessee. Holding them for her while her home is up for sale until she can take them home to Florida.
They are blooming like crazy! ;)

Went for Wagon Ride

Couple weeks ago, Mountain Man and I were asked to be at this event to offer his Farrier services. My first wagon trail ride! It was a blast!!
18 miles when the day was finished! We rode some, took a potty break, then it rained and rained. We went ahead anyhow and rode some more then stopped for lunch. By this time, the mules and horses needed a break too.
Towards the last few miles we, Mtn Man and I, changed wagons as the mules were wearing out! In the new ride, I got to bring us home the last eighth mile! Powerful animals pulling a wagon with three adults in it! Thinking we need to get ourselves set up..... ha ha
Enjoy the photos...

This is the original wagon we rode in that day. This day of pics they had traded out a mule because the other was all done. Randy the mule was a great mule who earned his spot to pull another day! He loves pulling!!

The green wagon above has been driven many, many miles. The were hour and half from home on this ride. But it would take them three days to get home with this ride. We pray they made it home safely!

This is the pair I drove...Sassy and Sally are a great pair! They love pulling!!
The gal on the horse brings up the rear just in case of trouble. They are called the road riders! A whole group of "outriders" were in and out of the wagon ride.
This unique wagon could seat 8+ and had a bath room and bbq!

19 wagons and 10+ outriders.
This ride was a fundraiser for the special olympics. Great ride for a great cause!!

Bringing them home!

They trailed nicely up the drive tied behind the "Brown Bomber". A mile walk for these boys is nothin'!
Love seeing them right outside during the day. Keeps Mountain Man at ease!

Sunday Passage

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character

10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Proverbs 31:10-30

No Doctors For Me

Some of you know, I have to be almost dying to go to a dang doctor! In my experience they want to throw pills at ya then charge ya an exorbitant amount of money! Then go back for checkups to see if their guess was correct or give you something else when it is not. And on and on. Am I right? You know it.
As you may have guessed I do not go unless I can't breathe (optional) or am bleeding to death(again optional).
Saturday we went out on a Farrier ( horseshoeing) job. Big beautiful belgian mules.
Well it is allergy season and danged if I know how I got an issue with my eye. Doggonit! I think I probably got something in my eye there and irritated it by rubbing it with dirty hands...ha ha! So now here I am couple days later with a swollen irritated eye. Looks like Mountain Man smacked me...He says No Mayo by God he means No mayo......Seriously, he would never dream of hitting me, ever! His momma and daddy raised him right!
So yesterday, I used triple antibiotic all day and an Allegra. Worked pretty good, so I thought. This morning I awoke to my eye almost swelled completely shut! I used a hot compress, thinking it would soothe the soreness which it did. Then added triple antibiotic ointment again and took Allegra.
Did some research to see what could be going on..does not look like pink eye. As you can see no pink except as smidge in the corner where the irritation started. The eyelid is really swelled though. So thinking it may be I scratched the inside of the eyelid and maybe got a little infection...who the heck knows.
But I am staying home, using baking soda with water (takes the sting out) and triple antibiotic. Allegra and am taking apple cider vinegar doses (1tsp vinegar to 1tsp water) throughout the day (3-4times a day).
Will keep ya updated!

Farm news:
Everybody is growing good! Grass is finally growing good. Lost two new chicks yesterday. down to 18 new ones. Hens are loving their new boxes!
